Get More of What You Want by Wanting More of What You Have
If you're not experiencing the kind of life you really want, you might be getting in your own way.
The average person has 60,000 thoughts a day and the vast majority are negative: “I’m too fat!” “We’ll never get out of debt!” “I can’t get it right!” No wonder it seems as if bad things keep happening – it’s all we think about.
How often do you fall into the "if only" trap?
"If only I had more money THEN I'd be happy?"
"If only I could lose some weight, THEN I'd feel good?"
"If only I could find the right job, THEN life would be good?"
"If only......" (Ok, you fill in the blank.)
I know the frustration of the "if only's." My life was in a shambles after fighting a debilitating disease for 10 years, losing my lucrative corporate job, trying to support a disabled husband with no income, and dealing with the stress of trying to get my own business off the ground.
One morning while I was pulling the covers over my head (again!) I stopped and asked myself a life-changing question: What if I felt good now?
"Oh No!" I thought. "I can't feel good now - things are AWFUL!!" Thereby followed a litany of what was going wrong in my life. But that just made me feel worse. That’s when I realized: to get more of what I wanted I had to want more of what I had.
The Law of Attraction
You've probably heard that we live in an "attraction-based universe." The Law of Attraction says that "like attracts like." So if you keep focusing on what you wish was different, on all the things that are going wrong, you'll attract more of what's going wrong.
Thank goodness the converse is also true. The more we focus on what's going right with our lives, the more we can find new thoughts that make us feel better, no matter what our current circumstances, the more we'll attract what we want.
I started to let the law of attraction work for me rather than against me. The more I focused on what was working in my life – right then – the more things started to work out.
I can hear some of you protest:
"The law of attraction works great for all those multi-millionaires. It would work for me, too if I had that kind of money!"
"I've read every self-help technique in the book and they're all the same!"
"I'm so frustrated, this stuff seems to work for everybody but me."
I understand, I can feel your pain. I was there myself, but I changed, and so can you. Let me be your guide to putting the law of attraction in action once and for all.
